Gwen Crowell/Core Instructor
Gwen Crowell was introduced to the work of Dr. Milton Trager when she went to massage school in Berkeley. She worked with Dr. Trager from 1978 until his passing in 1997. Attracted by the joyful movement and ease of the work, Gwen was delighted to share The Trager®Approach first with clients and then with students beginning in 1985 when she was one of his instructors.
Gwen was a pioneer in bringing Trager to Washington and has maintained a private practice since 1979. She enjoys listening and attending to people. Through Trager, Gwen assists others in sustaining a positive and productive internal awareness, leading to kinder, gentle relationships with themselves and others. As a teacher, she effectively guides students, helping them to anchor moments of understanding and to recognize and celebrate their competencies. She is the designer of this Trager Program and a core faculty member at DiscoveryPoint. More information about the program at DiscoveryPoint can be found at Trager® Program at DiscoveryPoint.
Gwen has also been a guest lecturer at Bastyr University and teaches Trager certification classes throughout North America, Europe, and Japan. She enjoys participating in the creative process of Trager and witnessing clients and students transform through the power of touch.
George Gottlieb/Core Instructor
George resides in Seattle, Washington. He is a Trager® Practitioner, Tutor, Instructor and Licensed Massage Therapist. He has been in practice since 1986 and has been teaching since 2000. The pleasure of studying with Dr. Trager for over 10 years informs his teaching and his practice. His interest in bodywork was sparked by receiving Trager sessions during recovery from a serious accident, and is still part of an ongoing process revolving around maintaining health and heightening awareness. George has studied and practiced other related fields including exercise, weight training, diet, natural health, Yoga, Tai Chi, meditation, communication skills and conflict resolution. His strengths as a Practitioner and as an Instructor are a delight in the work, the ability to connect, work and teach from a meditative place, profound respect for the body under his hands, a juncture of kinesthetic understanding and intellectual curiosity, and a love for learning and sharing that which he knows. Prior to his passion for bodywork, he worked as a manual laborer in many fields including wilderness firefighter, merchant seaman, commercial fisherman, timer faller and carpenter. He enjoys working in his shop, backpacking, sea kayaking, reading and playing with his grandchildren, as well as continuing to attain new skills.
Kathryn is an educator who brings to The TRAGER® Approach a depth of experience from the fields of mind/body education, stress management, massage therapy and early childhood. A TRAGER Practitioner for over 30 years and a Licensed Massage Therapist in FL, she now has her private practice in Portland, Oregon.
TRAGER has captured her heart because of its philosophy of deep respect, acceptance, gentleness, and inquiry. She is awed by the power of touch, movement and presence to invite us to experience ease, flexibility and mindfulness as a way of life! Her classes model the flow of a TRAGER session, offering a collaborative educational framework. Each class is an invitation to deepen our ability to pause, arrive in each moment, notice “what is” and explore new possibilities of “what could be”—freer, more spacious, joyful, comfortable, peaceful…… In her teaching, she integrates recent developments in neuroscience and trauma therapy which affirm the power of focused attention, fascination, novelty and body awareness to change our state of mind, and our brains!
