Henry Bornstein - President Trager International

U.S.T.A. Representative, Trager International Council of Trustees

BORNSTEIN Henry     I became a Trager Practitioner in 1985.  The Trager Approach is so much a part of my life that I cannot imagine life without it.  I am a Trager Mentastics® Teacher and after many years of an active Tutor practice, I recently became a Tutor Emeritus.  After a number of years away from participation in the Trager organization, I found myself volunteering last year to serve as USTA representative to the TI Council of Trustees.  After attending my first CoT meeting, I found myself elected President of Trager International.  I am now working with a wonderful group of worldwide Trager people to help create a new, revitalized International Trager organization that will better serve us all.
I spend much of my time kayaking in beautiful Lake County in Northern California, where I am also rediscovering the joy I find in playing music.
If you have any questions about Trager International, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Carla Keene - President

Region: Northeast Trager® Association (NETA)
[Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont]

Carla-Keene_VPRES    I became a Trager® Practitioner in 1991 and since this time have worked in private and group settings offering Trager and Mentastics®. In the beginning of my Trager career I worked in conjunction with Osteopathic doctors who specialized in Osteopathic Manipulation and Cranial Sacral work.  Over the years I have enjoyed working with thousands of clients with many diverse states of health and wellness, ranging from professional athletes to hospice patients. I also developed a strong interest in rehabilitating animals with the Trager Approach.  I currently work at St Mary’s Hospital as a Nurse.  In 2012 I became a member of The United States Board of Directors and currently serve the larger Trager vision and community in that role.

Deborah Haber - Treasurer

Region: Four Corners Trager® Association (FCTA)

[Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah]

Deborah-haber-forwebsite    I love movement and science and while in college decided what I really wanted to do was to dance in space. So, I pursued both modern dance and physics and applied for one of the NASA mission specialist positions aboard the space shuttle. I didn’t get in (7000 people applied for 40 positions) as they decided to only take people with doctorates.   So I went to graduate school and continued to dance.  I started piling up injuries though, and tried various types of body work for relieving pain.  By my late 20s I was walking with a cane and was pretty discouraged because the different modalities I had tried only worked for a short time before I needed another session. Meanwhile, the Challenger disaster had shut down the space shuttle program and I fell in love with solar research.  I found out about Trager® while working at a post-doc position in New Mexico and loved it so much I took the training and was certified in 1991.  I moved back to Boulder where I maintained a part-time Trager practice along with my full time research position at the University up until June 2012.  I gave up studying the interior dynamics of the sun through the use of resonant sound waves and took my Trager practice, where I study people’s inner dynamics using resonant waves, full time.

Trager work has given me the tools to truly change my life and I think it is a gift that needs to be shared as widely as possible. I still get injuries from dancing (flamenco these days), and from running, car accidents, etc. but I now know how to reach that easier, lighter way of being that is at the heart of Trager.  I work out of the Community Holistic Health Center in Lafayette, CO.

Region: Great Lakes Trager® Association (GLTA)

Barbara-Mason-forwebsite    As a former college dance teacher and choreographer, I have always been interested in how body movement can be made more efficient to allow for increased grace, fluidity, strength and freedom of motion. In 2004 I took a Somatics class at the Ohio State University, and I asked a fellow classmate who was also a Trager practitioner, to tell me about Trager. She suggested I attend an introductory class that she was teaching that weekend; and thus began my immersion into the study and practice of the Trager Approach, which was the perfect vehicle for me to continue my love of movement education. I became a practitioner in 2008 and am currently involved with a volunteer group in Columbus, Ohio called the Stone Soup Project. This group of body and energy workers offers their wellness and educational services to organizations such as retirement homes, hospital nursing staffs, veterans, and military families. I have an M.F.A. in Dance and am also certified in Laban Movement Analysis.

Frank_M

I am a licensed massage therapist and Trager practitioner living in Gainesville, Florida. I am also an instructor with the Florida School of Massage teaching the study of movement and neuromuscular therapy. I discovered the Trager Approach while seeking relief for my own physical discomfort and was amazed how such a simple, light and pain-free form of bodywork was so effective. I incorporate the principles of Doctor Trager’s work in my teaching, bodywork practice and my daily life. What could be easier, lighter and more comfortable?

Tammy Jo O'Neal - Heartland

Region: Heartland (HRTLND)
[Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas]

TammyJo jpgThe Trager® Approach truly is a way of life for me. It helps improve my mental & emotional health as it fuels my personal drive to maintain efficient physical mobility. Since discovering Trager’s profound benefits in 2001, not even a temporary lapse of feeling in my hands and feet have held me back from exploring the many levels of recovery Trager offers. As a performance artist, musician and athlete, I was licensed as a Massage Therapist in 1990. After a six-year pause from life as I knew it, I began using Trager to cope with MS, and completed my certification as a Trager Practitioner in 2010. Currently, I provide Trager in a collaborative setting at the Acupuncture & Healing Arts Medical Group in Memphis, TN, working also with mental health counselors in dealing with grief & trauma recovery. I experience the most joy seeing how each of us, regardless of age or circumstance, are transforming into the people we felt like when we were fresh & full of potential, or better yet, experiencing the thrill of reaching levels of comfort and freedom never before imagined possible. May the journey never end... just don’t dismiss the pauses.

Laura Lynn Giubardo - Socahane

Region: Southern California Trager® Assocation (SOCHANE)
[California zip codes 90000-92999, Hawaii, Nevada]

laura-lynn-secretary     As a Massage Therapist, body worker, hula dancer, yoga student, mother of seven and a spiritual seeker from the Church of Kindness, my journey began as a 19 year old, on the big Island of Hawaii.

I studied Lomi Lomi, shiatsu, sport massage, prenatal massage, Swedish massage, etc. My  Level 1 Trager® training facilitated a transcendent experience as my diaphragm released; it enabled me to take a breath so deep that my life was transformed and has been growing and transforming ever since.

I continue to apply the principles of Trager® in my life, and the lives of my family, friends and clients. I have seen other’s lives transformed by The Trager Approach. I believe in the principles that Milton Trager taught to the core of my heart, it is beyond my understanding why these principles are not taught in every school in the world.

The body is a vessel that carries the soul, moving the body to help a person realize the potential of their existence, transforming a life is powerful for all involved. I remain forever grateful to Milton Trager for the gift he has offered, allowing me to heal, and assist others in their healing.

Aloha,

Laura Lynn Giubardo
