Anatomy & Physiology of the Trager® Approach

Course Description

In this functional anatomy course students experience and discuss the effect of the Trager principles on body structures and explore how body parts work together to create health-inducing movement. Through tablework, Mentastics®, and learning activities students feel and visualize the structure and movement of the skeleton and muscles as well as the structural and functional connectedness carried by the connective tissues. For each area of the body, students discuss and explore the anatomic, physiologic, and kinesiologic rationale for Mentastics movement possibilities and the hand positions, sequence, and movements utilized during tablework. Experiencing the integration created through the Trager approach and feeling movement both locally and globally during practice is emphasized. Additionally, discussions provide opportunities to develop and practice using the language of anatomy and physiology to clearly articulate the benefits and effects of the Trager approach to clients, health care practitioners, and the community at large. This is a 6-day course which may be split up and offered in a variety of ways (e.g. two 3-day classes, three 2-day classes, etc)
